I'm hoping to get any thoughts/advice/suggestions on any of the above. Are there other PC builders I should look into? Do these specs fit for what I need? Too much? Too little? Any help would be SO appreciated. It's a huge part of how I make money, ultimately. But on the other hand, this will be my main work computer and I need it to really perform well. Monitor I already own: Lg Ultrafine 5K display (uses thunderbolt only)įrom browsing this thread, $6K seems like A LOT of money compared to other systems people seem to be building (I realize custom PC builders charge a premium). Memory: two 32gb DIMMS (JEDEC spec samsung or crucial memory) Hard Drive: a 1.0TB and 2.0TB SSD NVMe/PCIe 3.0 M.2 Drives (3TB total) Graphics card: GeForce RTX 3080 (for use with Vray for rhino) Puget says they can’t spec out a new build yet until the NVIDIA 30XX cards are released and tested while Boxx is confident their closed loop liquid cooling system is sufficient so they are taking orders for builds with the NVIDIA cards without testing. I’ve reached out to Puget Systems and Boxx and they’ve suggested similar builds, both costing around $6,000, which is like my max budget. I would like to go the custom PC Builder route (I’m open to building my own on my next one but as my first PC ever, it's important to me to have customer service available if I have a problem and don't have the time to troubleshoot myself). I do NOT use autocad.and I play starcraft occasionally. I also use Revit for more complex architectural projects (for modeling and drafting, NOT rendering). I’m a freelance architect/interior designer and I primarily use Rhino 3D with Vray (for 2D Drafting, 3D modeling, and rendering). I’m a long-time Mac user (My MacBook Pro running windows w/ bootcamp is just not working well enough) and I'm finally making the switch to a PC.
